Civil Service Commission
Notice of Public Hearing to Adopt Rules
A public hearing will be held in Room 412, 4th floor, State Capitol, Pierre, South Dakota, on October 26, 2016, at 10 a.m. CDT, to consider the amendment of proposed rule numbered
The effect of the proposed rule amendment is to allow an out-of-state law enforcement officer, who is currently certified or has been in the last two years, to be placed on the requisition list without taking a written exam. It also specifies the appointing authority shall determine the minimum score for the written exam.
The reason for adopting the proposed rule amendment is to streamline the process to get experienced law enforcement applicants on the requisition list. Applicants with a current South Dakota law enforcement certification are already exempted from the initial testing. The amendment also names the appointing authority to determine the passing score for the written examination. The commissioner of BHR currently has this authority.
Persons interested in presenting data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may do so by appearing in person at the hearing or by sending them to the South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources, State Capitol, 500 East Capitol, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-1234. Material sent by mail must reach the Bureau of Human Resources by October 25, 2016, to be considered.
After the hearing, the board will consider all written and oral comments it receives on the proposed rules. The board may modify or amend a proposed rule at that time to include or exclude matters that are described in this notice.
Notice is further given to individuals with disabilities that this hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Please notify the Bureau of Human Resources at least 48 hours before the public hearing if you have special needs for which special arrangements must be made. The telephone number for making special arrangements is 605.773.4479.
