A New Third-Party Administrator for Your Benefit

New Health Insurance ID Cards from Wellmark were recently mailed and will begin arriving soon at your home address. Unfortunately, the plan name in which you enrolled is showing incorrectly. Corrected cards are being printed and will be delivered in early July. Your ID number printed on the card is correct so your benefits will be processed at the plan level you chose during Open Enrollment, and you can use this card to receive benefits at your providers and pharmacy.

As a reminder: Your new Health Plan ID Card will only list the name of the state employee. Names of covered spouses and dependents will not appear on the card. If you have any questions, please contact the Wellmark Team at 1.800.846.9183.

The South Dakota State Employee Benefits Program has partnered with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Dakota as the state’s new third-party administrator. Wellmark BCBS of South Dakota is based in Sioux Falls. Currently, approximately 386,000 South Dakotans have their health coverage through BCBS. In fact, they are the largest health care network provider in South Dakota, and one in three Americans is covered by BCBS. Members of the State Employee Health Plan will enjoy access to a broad range of hospitals, primary care and specialist doctors, as well as telehealth benefits offered through Wellmark BCBS of South Dakota.
