Seasonal Wildlife Technician:
Position duties will include assisting with numerous wildlife surveys, primarily in central South Dakota. Surveys may include Fall Deer Herd Classification, Waterfowl Aerial Counts, Turkey Winter Flock Counts, Pheasant Winter Sex Ratio, etc. Position will be responsible for using radio-telemetry to retrieve deer radio-collars and may include conducting deer telemetry flights to monitor survival rates. Position will also assist with Chronic Wasting Disease sampling efforts, winter deer captures, and aerial deer surveys. Additionally, this position will assist at the Lower Oahe Waterfowl Access Area in the fall and winter. Duties would include repairing waterfowl hunting pits, maintaining equipment, checking out decoys to hunters, and operating the public field drawing system.
Wildlife survey experience, ability to use or learn radio-telemetry, and conduct aerial surveys. Ability to work independently in a field setting. Valid driver’s license is required.
