How To Prepare For A Classification Review/Desk Audit
Once your completed Position Description Questionnaire has been forwarded to BHR Classification staff, you will typically be contacted to schedule a classification review.
Please arrange for a vacant office or conference room to conduct the classification review. If the review is to take place at your desk and you are in a high-traffic area, please make arrangements to keep interruptions to a minimum by asking someone to cover your phone calls and visitors. Some items you may want to reference during the review include:
- A copy of your Position Description Questionnaire (PDQ).
- Examples of your work (such as reports you produce or utilize, logs that you keep, and/or reports that you generate).
- Anything that will help you explain your job.
The classification decision does not take into consideration such issues as:
- Performance;
- Qualifications or background;
- Compensation;
- Longevity;
- The necessity of the position; or
- Duties that have not yet been assigned or assumed
