Law Enforcement Written Exam Testing Locations
All applicants (except those currently law enforcement certified) must take the South Dakota Law Enforcement written test and receive a score of at least 60%, or have a current test format score of at least 60% on file, to be eligible to advance in the selection process. The current test format was introduced in May 2012. Test scores from tests taken before May 2012 are no longer valid.
Upon completion of the test, the Local Offices/Test Administrator will return your test to the South Dakota Bureau of Human Resources. Your test will be scored and you will receive notification of your test score via email or a phone call within one week of submission to the Bureau of Human Resources.

- Out of State applicants:

Contact a local state employment agency, local college testing center, local library, or local state law enforcement agency to request the test be administered for you. Please provide the following information about the person administering the test:
- Name and title of person administering the test
- Office name, mailing address, email, and telephone number
