Highway Patrol Trooper

The South Dakota Highway Patrol (SDHP) is not currently seeking individuals to serve the citizens of South Dakota as State Troopers. The South Dakota Highway Patrol offers a $5,000 hiring bonus for certified law enforcement officers from in and out of state or those who are reciprocity eligible and pass the reciprocity exam and skills testing.

Complete an electronic job application.
Prepare for Minimum Physical Fitness Standards.

Step 3

Schedule First Interview.

Step 4

Background Investigation.

Step 5

Conduct Physical Fitness Test.
Scheduled Second Interview.

Step 6

Complete Polygraph Examination.

Step 7

Start Highway Patrol Academy.
